Since it was the weekend, my daughter (who has recently taken the training wheels off her bicycle), wanted to go and watch the cycling championship. Coincidently, today was the Women Elite Road Race (about 135 Km) from 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm.. So we both ventured downstairs to catch the excitement! (If you missed my post on how the races are affecting the Pearl Residents, read it here..)
Though it was quiet hot during the afternoon , my daughter insisted that we stay and watch the race till the end. Worked well for me as it served my “hidden” parenting motive behind bringing her there.. inspiring her with these amazing women…There was such a fun vibe there, with lots of supporters wearing funky outfits, cheering and singing and shouting for the riders from their countries! (We supported everyone!) Such an energizing, electrifying and exciting afternoon it was!
We were 100 meter away from the Finish Line, and while there were so many people clicking their cameras away (including me), there was a very talented artist capturing the whole scene on his canvas! This just put so much soul (for me) to the whole afternoon!
So here are the pictures of the race that I captured.. Enjoy!
The next picture is what I captured, 100 m before the Finish Line of the Final lap.. and you can see that Denmark’s rider Dideriksen is just behind Netherland’s rider Wild.. and this is where the game changed and Dideriksen overtook Wild and became the World Champion of the bunch sprint race today!

And then of course, how could we miss the award ceremony…
You can catch the highlights of the race HERE
P.S. I must confess that during this whole cycling event, all that kept popping in my head were the songs from the Bollywood movie, “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander” (Lol, I loved that movie … I know I know I am quite filmi, Tunna!).
