Disclaimer: Though its a DIY, I have hardly done anything in it and you will know why in a bit! 🙂
When we moved to our new home last year, I kept a wall empty in the kids playroom/study because I wanted to turn it into a chalkboard wall. But since it is a rented place, I didn’t want to paint the wall black with Chalkboard paint and therefore ordered Chalkboard Contact Paper from Amazon. (It costed me 10 USD/roll and it came with a white chalkboard marker and I used about 3 rolls for this wall )My husband put the rolls up, which are just like big sticker sheets. He used a glass cleaning wiper to put it up, to ensure that there aren’t any bubbles between the contact paper and the wall.
I wanted to leave 2/3 of the chalkboard wall for the kids to scribble on and wanted to decorate the top 1/3 with some design. I wanted the below quote by Dr. Seuss to be written on it.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
I thought I can do it myself, but then I decided against it and contacted Maria from “Lettered by Maria” who is a very talented lettering artist in Doha.

Maria was excited to take this project and so was I! She was an absolute delight to work with. I had sent her the quote and she had done some sample sketches for me to choose from. Though I told her to do as she pleases because she is the artist and she did not disappoint at all!She taped the borders and lines, went up the stool and started to do her magic on my chalkboard wall.
I left her alone to do her work, but couldn’t help myself from peeking in to see and take some pictures of the progress.
She took a couple of hours to make this masterpiece, but the end result was exactly how I had envisioned it! I fell in love with it!
